What is Perplexity?

Perplexity is an AI that searches the live web and answers with sources. Plug your Perplexity API key into Zzz and your app can answer questions with fresh, verifiable information.

What it unlocks in Zzz

  • Live answers: respond with up-to-date information from the web, not a frozen snapshot.
  • Cited sources: every answer comes with links, so your users can check what they read.
  • Research features: build comparison tools, news digests, price watchers or research assistants.
  • Trustworthy AI: grounding answers in real sources cuts down hallucinations.

Get your API key

  1. Open perplexity.ai and sign in (or create an account).
  2. Open Settings, then the API tab.
  3. Add credit if asked, then Generate a key and copy it.

Connect it to Zzz

  1. In Zzz, open Connections, pick Perplexity, then click Add connection.
  2. Paste your key and validate.
  3. Ask for your feature in the chat: "add a screen that summarizes today’s news about my favorite team, with sources". Zzz wires Perplexity into your app.

Good to know

  • Your key is stored encrypted and never exposed in your app’s code.
  • Perplexity’s API is billed by usage; watch consumption in their dashboard.
